Dreamers, visionaries and do-ers

Do you have a structure that you dream of building with your own hands? To experience an ancient craft? Whether your project is a home office or your dream house, its going to be your legacy, and for a do-er like yourself: its something that you want to get right.

Once or twice a year I get to visit people who are working on their own dream projects in different countries to offer my technical knowledge and a helping hand. Frequently this sees me living with a family or nearby to the site and usually in a long lasting friendship. I have one friend that I’ve been doing projects for over the span of over 10 years as he slowly builds the farm that he wishes to hand down to his children’s children!

The dynamics of the build and my involvement are different from project to project. The project always starts with an idea, and it is important to be sure of what we are building and to create a good set of drawings for the timber frame before we start sending the sawdust flying. The dynamics of the build are always different, and can be you and I, or even a group of your friends working together for the whole build, to a project where you or I do the majority of the work. Every case is different, and emphasis is put on ensuring that this once-in-a-lifetime experience is both enjoyable and as stress free as possible.
